Flash for the past - Nicole Sack back for a visit

Former Southern Illinoisan reporter Nicole Sack (you have to scroll down a little to get to Dave's work on her going away party) was back in town for a visit with the folks and like a good political junkie was at the Cole Vistory party last night. It sounds like Nicole is happy in SoCal and enjoying the work, but missed Carbondale (at least a little). She told me a funny story about parking meter enforcement that you might want to ask her about sometime. :)

It was funny, there were two pictures taken. Nicole told us that the first one wasn't right and switched sides for the second one. She looks great in both, but the second one was better. I don't think I have a good side, so either way is fine with me. The whole thing made me have a really stupid grin in this picture, but you likely hadn't noticed I was in it yet. How do women know these things?

She told me she was a fan of my blog, so here is a shout out from a blogging hack to a good reporter.

That's Paris Hilton, isn't it?

She could be Paris, but I checked and she wasn't carrying a little dog. How can you be a Diva if you don't have a little dog? Oh, she didn't act like a Diva either.

Best question of the day, someone asked me if my wife was jealous because I had put up this picture? You have got to be kidding. My wife likely thought that Michele would be jealous of her??!? The reality is that most pretty 25 year olds aren't interested in average looking 44 year old men, with wives and a bunch of kids. I'm pretty sure my wife has this figured out.

During the Victorian Era, it was actually relatively common for men in their forties to marry women in their teens. Your useless trivia for the day.

I'm jealous, Peter. ;-)

Not surprised to see Sack move on to greener pastures. She was by far the best reporter the Southern has produced in years.

I think that Caleb Hale is developing into a fine reporter. Clearly, things are in flux over at the SI, but Caleb has developed into a consistently knowledgeable writer on all things SIU and Carbondale.

I would put him right there with Nicole myself, in the "good and someday could be great" bin.
