Am I seeing cracks in Mary Pohlman's armor?

Mary Pohlman has come on strong on the stage of Carbondale politics. She retired and got active with a fairly successful anti-smoking campaign. The only knocks against her accomplishments there was the law wasn't passed and it was funded from outside the area, but heck it is going to happen sooner or later. State, local, national, it is just a matter of time now.

Running for city council, Mary might be seen as a one issue candidate. I assumed that because she has lived in town for so long, she would know what is going on. There are signs that she doesn't though.

In the Arbor District City Council debate last night, Mary is quoted as saying
Mary Pohlman cited a figure of $6 million shortfall in our city budget that was challenged by Lance Jack.
The $6M number is totally bogus and is part of the Sheila campaign of misdirection on the Carbondale budget. This really isn't that hard to understand is it?

I'm missing the link to last Friday's story from the Southern Illinoisan on the Thursday debate, as I remember it, Mary was quoted as not wanting to be a one issue candidate, so a second thing she was worried about was Carbondale's blighted downtown. I guess she was for tearing down the Tap then? But, the downtown isn't blighted.

In this election, I think that Mary Pohlman seems like a no brainer and will get my vote as things stand today. But, that doesn't mean that she shouldn't be reading the past entries in this and other local prominent blogs to figure out what is going on.

Seems like no one wants a piece of Lance or Steven, what about Mary?
